Spring Flowers

I've been taking pictures of flowers this spring.  Unfortunately, I didn't get out and see the blue bonnets this year.

First, a couple of paper whites that we got at Christmas.  Paper whites don't stay pretty very long, but they sure are beautiful while they are blooming.

Next, a couple of gerbera daisies.  Diane really enjoys these because they are so bright.  You need sunglasses to look at them.

We've never had much luck with orchids.  Typically I get an orchid plant for Diane and after it's done blooming, it doesn't ever put another set of flowers on.  This one was an exception.  We had a great second set of flowers on it this spring.

Our amaryllis' were beautiful this year.  We typically buy a couple after Christmas on clearance and plant them.  They adapt well to the Sugar Land area.

This spring I bought a couple of filters and diopters for my camera with Christmas money.  The diopters allow me to get a lot closer to what I'm trying to photograph.  The problem tends to be getting the picture in focus.  The following pictures are some close ups of the amaryllis'.  I love the stamens that are just breaking out and the sparkles in the last picture of this sequence.

A couple of pictures of Easter lilies.  I find it interesting that even if you move the plant a little bit, you get the pollen sprinkling down onto the flower.  It doesn't take much movement for this to happen.  I guess it's one of those things that you don't think about, but makes sense when you do.

Finally, from my mom's backyard.
